On 29 September, the Consulate-General of China in Sydney hosted National Day Reception for the overseas Chinese community. H.E. Consul General Wang Yu attended and delivered an address. More than 350 representatives of the local Chinese community, Chinese institutions, and Chinese students attended the event.

In his address, Wang Yu highlighted China's development achievements and underlined the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative. Wang Yu also encouraged attendees to promote China-Australia friendship and deepen bilateral cooperation with greater efforts. He noted that the Consulate-General of China in Sydney will actively practicing Diplomacy for the People and continue to provide high-quality consular services.

The attendees expressed their willingness to contribute more to local economic and social development and the promotion of multiculturalism, and to serve as a bridge for China-Australia friendship.
