On 30 August, the Consulate-General of China in Sydney hosted the “Exploring China · Intangible Cultural Heritage” event at the Chinese Garden of Friendship in Sydney.

H.E. Consul General Wang Yu attended the event and delivered opening remarks. More than 100 participants, including NSW dignitaries, former “Chinese Bridge” contestants, Chinese language learners and enthusiasts of Chinese culture, were invited to take part. Hundreds of visitors to the garden on the day were also attracted by the event and enthusiastically participated in hands-on experiences featuring a series of traditional Chinese intangible cultural heritage (ICH) activities, including Chinese kung fu, tea art and ou su.

In his opening remarks, Wang Yu said that the Chinese Garden of Friendship is an important symbol of friendship between China and Australia, while China’s rich traditional culture serves as an important bridge for fostering people-to-people bonds and promoting mutual understanding between the two countries. He noted that holding the ICH exhibition and experience event at the garden was particularly meaningful, as it would help deepen mutual understanding and friendship between the people of China and Australia, especially among young people.

Wang Yu encouraged young people from both countries to build friendship through cultural exchange, deepen mutual understanding through learning from one another, and grow together as participants and future builders of China-Australia friendship.
