On 22 August, the 2026 Australia China Themed Books and Cultural Creative Products Exhibition opened at the State Library of New South Wales. H.E. Consul General Wang Yu attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

Wang Yu said, there are always more stories to read between China and Australia. He expressed the hope that through this exhibition, Australian readers will discover a real China—a China of daily life, landscapes and human connections—within its pages. The Consulate-General of China in Sydney will continue to serve as a bridge and build a “path of books” to each other’s hearts, bringing more good books and good stories into Australian schools and homes. Quoting an ancient Chinese saying, “The value of friendship lies in heart-to-heart communication.” the Consulate-General remains committed to fostering greater understanding and friendship between the peoples of China and Australia.

The event brought together 21 publishing and cultural institutions including China International Book Trading Corporation along with over 100 guests in attendance.
