1. At present, nationals of over 80 countries and regions, including Australia, may enter the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) for tourism without a visa. For details, please refer to the website of the Public Security Police Force of Macao SAR.
2. Nationals of Bangladesh, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam are required to obtain a visa in advance from a Chinese embassy or consulate-general, except for holders of diplomatic passports who are eligible for visa exemption.
3. Nationals of other non-visa-exempt countries or regions may either apply for a visa in advance or obtain an entry permit upon arrival in the Macao SAR.
4. Foreign nationals applying for an ordinary visa to the Macao SAR must submit their applications through a Chinese Visa Application Service Center (no appointment required). The Consulate-General in Sydney does not directly accept such visa applications.
5. Visa Application Requirements for the Macao SAR
5.1 Required Documents
5.1.1 Passport: Original passport valid for at least six months with blank visa pages, along with a photocopy of the information page.
5.1.2 Visa Application Form: A truthfully, accurately, and completely filled-out Macao SAR visa application form.
5.1.3 Photo: One recent, color, front-facing passport-size photo (2 inches, no head covering, unless worn for religious or medical reasons).
5.1.4 Proof of Legal Stay in Australia: Required for non-Australian nationals.
5.1.5 Other Supporting Documents: Please refer to the requirements published on the website of the Public Security Police Force of the Macao SAR.
5.2 Processing Time:
5.2.1 For visas issued directly by the Consulate-General, collection is generally available on the 4th working day. Express service (collection on the 2nd or 3rd working day) is available for an additional fee.
5.2.2 For applications requiring referral to the Public Security Police Force of the Macao SAR for approval, the processing time is uncertain, and express service is not available.
