Spokesperson of Chinese Consulate General in Sydney Refutes False Report by Australian media

2014-04-22 15:11

On 21 April, the Sydney Morning Herald published a false report under the title “Chinese spies at Sydney University”. With regard to the report, Spokesperson of Chinese Consulate General in Sydney states as follow:

We have noted the relevant report in the Sydney Morning Herald on 21 April. The report is totally groundless. It violates journalistic principles of truthfulness, objectivity and impartiality, severely distorts the studying and living conditions of Chinese students in Australia, hurts the feelings of the Chinese students and arouses their strong indignation and anxiety. We express strong dissatisfactions to the behavior of the relevant report which is a distortion of facts and bears ulterior motives.

At present, China-Australia educational exchanges are very active. China has become Australia’s largest source of international students. We hope that the relevant media will adhere to the reporting principles of objectivity and impartiality, jointly facilitate the increasingly deepening people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between China and Australia, and preserve the friendship between the two peoples.
