Newly-arrived Chinese Consul General HU Shan visited the New South Wales Parliament, where he paid a courtesy call to Mr. Peter Primrose, President of the Legislative Council. The two had a friendly exchange of opinions on China-Australia relations, the sister-state partnership between Guangdong and NSW and the current financial crisis.

"Australia enjoys political stability, economic prosperity, well-regulated market, advance technology and sound legal system. NSW can perfectly represent Australia in every way." Mr. HU said, "I am very pleased to come to Sydney for my next overseas term of service. I look forward to joining Mr. Primrose and other colleagues to promote the all-round pragmatic cooperation between China and NSW."

Mr. Primrose echoed Mr. HU remarks about Australia and NSW. In return, He spoke highly of the drastic measure taken by the Chinese Government lately to stimulate the Chinese Economy, and believed that would also benefit the Australia economy as the two economies were increasingly interdependent.

Chinese Deputy Consul General LI Yanduan joined Mr. Hu for the visit.
