Notice on the Application for Equipment Confirmation Letter for Journalist Holding OIAC or PIAC

According to the Regulations on Reporting Activities in China by Foreign Journalists During the Beijing Olympic Games and the Preparatory Period, foreign journalists who hold valid Olympic Identity and Accreditation Cards (OIAC) and Paralympic Identity and Accreditation Cards (PIAC) are entitled to multiple entries into the territory of the People's Republic of China with visa exemption. Foreign journalists may bring a reasonable quantity of reporting equipments into China duty free for their own use by presenting the Equipment Confirmation Letter.

Foreign journalists who hold valid OIACs or PIACs may apply for the Equipment Confirmation Letter at our consulate. Procedures are as follows:

1. Download the Equipment Declaration Form from websites of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad or our consulate, and then fill in the form.

2. Present the OIAC or PIAC and submit a copy of it and three copies of the Form to us. Information about the entry city and entry time should be provided.

3. Once confirmed, our consulate will issue the sealed Equipment Declaration Form and the Equipment Confirmation Letter on the next working day.

Only the professional equipment used for reporting activities can be confirmed by our consulate, such as professional cameras, video cameras and communication instruments. Journalists do not need to declare for a reasonable quantity of civil cameras, video cameras and laptops for their personal use.

Registered journalists who want to bring into China the maritime satellites and the portable satellite gathering equipment must present the Radio Equipment Frequency License issued by the Beijing Olympic Radio Frequency Regulatory Office for the application for the Equipment Confirmation Letter.
