Chinese Embassy Spokesperson's Remarks on AUSMIN Joint Statement

2021-09-17 12:16

We firmly oppose and reject the unfounded accusations and erroneousremarks against China on issues related to the South China Sea, Xinjiang, HongKong, Taiwan and other China-related issues in the Joint Statement ofAustralia-U.S. Ministerial Consultations (AUSMIN) on 17th September. Those assertions, in disregard of basic facts, violated international law andbasic norms governing international relations and grossly interfered in China'sinternal affairs. This petty move to put pressure on China will be of no availbut a staged farce.

We urge the Australianside to abandon the outdated Cold War zero-sum mentality and narrow-mindedgeopolitical perception, handle its relationship with China in a genuinelyindependent manner, stop sliding further down on the road of harmingChina-Australia relations, and do more to enhance mutual trust and promotepragmatic cooperation.
