Remarks of the Spokesperson of the Chinese Consulate General
on the Tragic Canyoning Incident in the Blue Mountains

We are shocked and saddened by the tragic loss of Senior Constable Kelly Foster and a Chinese citizen in the Blue Mountains incident on 2 January. We extends deep condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones. The Chinese Consulate General in Sydney has been in close contact with the family of the Chinese citizen and will provide necessary consular assistance accordingly.

We admire the courage and bravery Senior Constable Foster had demonstrated in her heroic act to help the Chinese citizen. Consul General Zhou Limin has sent a letter to Acting NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon to express condolence.
