Consul General Duan Jielong Attended Chinese New Year Celebrations in Kogarah

At the invitation of Mayor Nickolas Varvaris, Consul General Duan Jielong attended the Chinese New Year Celebrations in Kogarah on 2 Feburary.

Mr. Duan sent his best wishes to the local Chinese community and all residents in Kogarah. He said the China-Australia relationship is smooth and healthy, and both sides are committed to further promote the bilateral friendly cooperation. The Consul General also pledged his support for Kogarah to conduct friendly exchanges with cities in China.

Mayor Varvaris, wearing Chinese traditional dress, spoke highly of the positive contributions that the Chinese Community made to the City of Kogarah. He thanked Mr. Duan and the Chinese Consulate General in Sydney for their support in the City's contacts with China.

Despite the rainy weather, large crowd gathered to join the celebrations. The audience was presented with dragon and lion dancing and other traditional Chinese cultural performance.
