Consul General Hu Shan visits Parramatta

  At the invitation of Lord Mayor Tony Issa, H. E. Hu Shan, Chinese Consul General in Sydney paid a visit to the city of Parramatta. The two had a lunch meeting during which they had a pleasant conversation about China-Australia relations, the bilateral cooperation in fighting the financial crisis as well as the Parramatta’s plan to develop China relations.

  Mr. Issa presented to Consul General Hu the city of Parramatta as a history-honored city with lots of cultural heritage, busy commercial activities and harmonious communities. The city, as he said, was becoming more and more appealing to new immigrants, especially Chinese settlers.

  Mr. Hu said he was very much impressed by the comprehensiveness in Parramtta’s economic and social development. He encouraged the city of Parramatta present itself to Chinese people, further develop its exchange and cooperation with China, so as to add its contribution to the booming China-Australia relations.

  Lord Mayor Issa was very keen on developing China relation, for which he hoped for the support and assistance from Consul General Hu and his mission. Mr. Hu responded in principle but very enthusiastically, “Whatever is conducive to the healthy development of China-Australia relations and will bring benefits to both peoples, deserves our mission’s uttermost support and assistance. ”
